AFSCME Members Win Big!

AFSCME members fought for and won major investments in state workers this year at the bargaining table and the legislative session.

These victories are made possible because of the years-long effort to win collective bargaining rights, our robust political mobilization, relentless advocacy, and all of us coming together as a union to fight for better pay, working conditions and improved state services.

Contract Negotiations for Nevada State Employees

WHAT ARE CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS?

Collective bargaining is the process of negotiating a contract of employment between employees and their employer over wages, working conditions and other issues important to us, the workers.

A committee of our co-workers — chosen by us — sits down and hammers out an agreement known as a "union contract" on every issue of concern to our bargaining unit. The committee sits at the bargaining table as equals with management.

Once a tentative agreement has been reached and has been accepted by the AFSCME bargaining team, a majority of AFSCME Local 4041 members must vote to approve the agreement before it can become accepted as a contract

WHO GETS TO PARTICIPATE?

Only state employees who are members of AFSCME Local 4041 and are part of one of the three bargaining units certified to negotiate as AFSCME will be able to have a say in contract negotiations. Click here to join AFSCME as a member!

WHEN DO CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS START?

Contract negotiations for the 2023-2025 CBA have ended and a contract has been ratified.

Negotiation on the next contract will begin in 2024.

WHAT ARE BARGAINING UNITS?
